All my life I’ve lived with an uncontrollable urge to find myself. I tried to fit in (which is the norm) but failed miserably. The only time I felt like I was myself is when I tried not to fit in. Some people think I’m sugar, most think I’m spice. Although I like that combination, who is the one inside of me I'm yet to find!

Although I was brought up in a normal environment, I grew up doing some utterly bizarre things. I made a top out of a polythene bag, made gladiators out of slippers, tried on all the funky make-up looks adorned by celebs, and now and again came up with unique hairstyles to make my long hair look short without snipping it, which by far was my favourite. 

I always had a knack for hairstyles, so hair accessories gradually became my new found gadgets. From big flowers to little clips, subtle hairbands to chunky bows - I had an impressive collection and of course a creative hairdo everyday. Then one fine day, I laid my eyes on this coolest gizmo ever - dreadlocks . It was love at first sight. I undoubtedly wanted them, but I was too young to have them (or so I was told). I decided to wait. 

Life kept going and I became an actor by profession. As luck would have it, this time round my profession wouldn’t allow me to have permanent dreadlocks; different projects demanded different looks. Nevertheless, the wait had to end, so I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands (or hair), and therefore my quest for faux dreadlocks in India began. However, very soon, I realised my odyssey might not have a fruitful ending as I kept hitting the wall with 'not available in India'. 

It’s said, "If you can’t find a way, create one!" So I did, and called it dRad. 

I define it as sophisticated quirkiness packed with style, fashion and contentment. I have always believed I have a colourful soul, which comes through especially when I am experimenting with vibrant colours to make these dreadlocks. I feel the same burst of colours on the outside as on the inside. THIS is my identity, my comfort, my happy place.
